Market at the Food Bank Winner

It's time to announce the winner of the two General Admission tickets to this weekend's Market at the Food Bank to benefit the Harvest for Hunger Campaign and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Thank you to all who entered the giveaway. The chef lineup sold itself, and guests will enjoy a fantastic event for a good cause. Using random.org, the winner is Comment #20- Kayla Grise.
Congratulations! Email me by Wednesday to claim your prize, or another winner will be selected. If you did not win, tickets are still available here.

How was your weekend? Ours started off so well, with an early morning trip to the North Union Farmers Market at Shaker Square on Saturday morning. Can you believe that it was my first time at this farmers market? Bad foodie, bad. But, Saturday mornings are usually when "R" and I head to the West Side Market, just a few miles from our house. Convenient, and we can do most of our grocery shopping there with a little bit of planning. Anywho, we decided to check it out this weekend, and I'm glad that we did.

We picked up some mushrooms from Killbuck Valley Mushrooms.
Sampled, and purchased, Cleveland Kraut.
Grabbed some bison filets to cook up tonight.
And also bought sausage from Saucisson, chard, pork chops, and hummus.

Now, we'll need to supplement our shopping with a stop at the grocery store, but it did give us a good base for three meals. I appreciate supporting local, and we enjoyed a nice, sunny morning wandering through the vendors.

Do you shop at farmers markets this time of year? Take advantage of the many markets that our area offers!

The rest of our weekend did not end up so well. We had a wonderful evening out at the Chef's Fantasy event (more on that later) that evening, but then "R" and I both came down with a stomach bug. It wiped us out Sunday, and we're both still feeling under the weather today.
