I went two years ago, and it was a great deal for the food and beers included. A casual night out, enjoying tasty house made brats and craft beer. Don't miss it! 

Weekend Fun in the CLE

I know that there is still one day left this weekend, but we have packed enough fun into the last two days that I am ready to call it quits. The summer events in Cleveland just don't stop, and we've been spreading ourselves pretty thin the last several weeks. But I just can't say no to some of my favorite events, and some new finds as well.

Friday night, "R" and I attended our fourth Twilight at the Zoo. As usual, the event was sold out and thousands enjoyed live music from 18 bands, buffet food, all-you-can-drink beer and wine, and exploring the zoo grounds. It's always fun to see the animals out and about as the event gets started. We had a blast, and I already can't wait for next year.

I always run into people I know at this event, and the evening traditionally ends with me dancing in the grass with quite a buzz and my shoes off. The zoo sure knows how to throw a good party!

Our weekend fun didn't stop there. Saturday brought the Sausage Fest at Sachsenheim Hall. In my original blog post, I had promised you yummy sausage, all-you-can-drink beer from four local breweries, and great people watching. I'm happy to say that the event delivered all of that, and so much more. It lived up to my expectations, and I'd go next year in a heartbeat.

You should join us! Also, check out their Taco Tuesday because all of their sausages (made in-house) are offered as meat choices. Personally, I loved the Meech, Currywurst, and Ancho Chicken. The many kinds of house-made mustard also won us over. I woke up this morning still dreaming of sausage, and I don't even like sausage very much. (I don't think I've ever said the word "sausage" so much in my life)

Today brings errands, organizing a storage unit, and drafting our wills...the fun is over.

Beer and Sausage Fest- August 4th

Who doesn't love a good sausage fest? No, not that kind. I'm talking about the 3rd Annual Beer & Sausage Fest at Sachsenheim Hall on Saturday, August 4th at 6PM.

For just $30, it's all-you-can-eat sausage (10 different sausage flavors) and beer. The beers are from Fat Head's Brewery, Buckeye Brewing, Willoughby Brewing Company, and Market Garden Brewery. There will also be live entertainment from 7PM - 11PM.

But, the people-watching alone will be worth the price tag for this event. So, a few of us are headed there and you should join us! We purchased our tickets at Market Garden Brewery. I'm assuming that they will be available at the door as well, but I'm not sure.

Taco Tuesday- Sachsenheim Hall

My Taco Tuesday quest took me to Sachsenheim Hall on Denison Avenue last night. Several of you suggested their tacos, and for just $1 each- I can see why.

First, the building is quite the sight.

It is over 100 years old, and includes a bar area, ballroom, dance hall, and several other smaller rooms throughout. There is decent parking space available in a lot just to the right of the building, and we entered through the side door. Immediately, we were hit in the face with the stench of urine and cigarettes. No joke.

Inside the bar area, we found quite a mix of people. It was great people watching! To our left was a fine specimen of a mullet, with multiple elastics holding it into a perfectly sectioned ponytail. To my right, a classy young gal talking loudly about her mandatory DUI class as she downed five shots while we sat there. We saw families, blue-collar workers, hipsters, and plenty of your average Joe's. All are welcome.

After securing our drinks, we were handed a menu of the Taco Tuesday specials.

With 15 different types of filling, it was hard to choose. They come in a hard or soft taco shell for $1 each, and "loading" them with lettuce, cheese, tomato, sour cream, and salsa is free. This is often not the case with other Taco Tuesday deals. They also offer empanadas stuffed with any of the fillings, or a V-RITO which includes a soft shell, a layer of nacho cheese, and then a hard shell.

I ordered a Habanera Empanada, Black Bean & Corn soft taco, Fish soft taco, and a Jamaican Jerk Sausage soft taco.

All were served warm. The Habanera filling had a nice heat to it, but wasn't as spicy as the bartender made it out to be. The empanada was a little over fried, and dry around the outside. The fish taco was the only one that I didn't care for. It was lacking the crunch of a good fried breading, and tasted a little "fishy". The Jamaican Jerk was probably my favorite of the bunch.

With two beers (one pint, one liter), and "R" having more tacos than I did- our bill STILL only came to $20 and change. Per person, this is definitely a Dining Deals alert!

Don't get me wrong, I love Touch's Thursday tacos and Deagan's gourmet tacos...but this type of Taco Tuesday was more what I had in mind when I started this series. Stay tuned for more, and keep the suggestions coming!
